Description

FN® MK 16 For Sale

Chosen by U.S. special operators as the next-generation assault rifle platform, the FN® MK 16 provides the range, reliability, accuracy, safety, ergonomics, and modularity to meet any operational challenge. A selective-fire, semi-, and full-auto 5.56x45mm rifle using a short-stroke gas piston, the MK 16 can be quickly configured by the individual operator in just minutes for close-quarters combat (CQC), tactical, and long-range engagements. Unlike many currently fielded 5.56x45mm rifles, controllability under recoil is a hallmark of the MK 16, allowing the operator to engage targets with multiple well-aimed rounds readily. The 16 MK has been tested and fielded with the U.S. Armed Forces. It adds the same innovation, modularity, and adaptability as the MK 17, only in a smaller caliber.

The Mk16 Special Operations Personnel Combat Assault Rifle is a gas-piston-driven 5.56 carbine with a modular design that lets the operator customize the firearm for various tasks. It was created exclusively for U.S. special operations personnel and their harsh circumstances.

The SCAR has two receivers: the polymer-built lower receiver and the aluminum-built, single-piece upper receiver. The aluminum receiver has a built-in, uninterrupted Picatinny rail on top. It also has two detachable side rails and a bottom rail that can accommodate any accessory that complies with MIL-STD-1913.

Its polymer lower receiver features a flared magazine well, a raised region around the magazine and bolt release controls, and a compatible pistol grip with the M16. The front sight can be flipped down to allow for unhindered usage ‘of accessories and optics. The rifle’s bolt carrier resembles the Heckler & Koch G36 or Stoner 63, although it employs a closed gas system similar to the M1 Carbine, or “tappet.”

The Special Operations Command (SOCOM) declared in June 2011 that it would not be buying Mk16s for its personnel. Subsequently, that year, Naval Special Warfare released an RFP to acquire the Mk16 over a five-year duration.
